Was born in Naples in 1938. architecture graduate in 1965. From 1997 is Professor of Technology of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture University Federico II of Naples. Since 2000 Professor Capasso is the responsible for the Laboratorio di Tecnologie Leggere per l’Ambiente Costruito (Lightweight Technology for the Constructed Environment Laboratory), inside the section Environment and Technology, Department of Urban Design, in the University of Naples Federico II.

Research Activities
The study of research and experimentation developed by professor Aldo Capasso faces the problem of environmental requalification through two related routes. At one side, the themes of light technologies are examined closely, and it is shown the possibility of handle materials and processes to build flexible and adaptable architectures. The other side, the resources and energies are analysed in reference to the transformation process of urban re-qualification, judging whether those are consistent with environmental protection (in natural and cultural terms) or not.

   

With reference to light technologies, it has been led a study upon the use of fibrous materials, from wood to polymeric, in their innovative aspects and their new building capacity. A particular focus is given to the membranes and their large possible use in architecture; from the outline of simple membrane organisms to their integration with other constructive systems. The research is thought to cut down on the weight of constructive materials making it lighter and more versatile, without affecting the environment.
